3 Types Of Medical Grade Monitors

Many different medical professionals, from surgeons to physicians to radiologists, depend on information conveyed via medical monitors. Medical monitors are important treatment, surgery, and diagnostic tools within the medical field.

When it comes to medical monitors, there are a few different types of medical monitors that you can purchase for your practice, depending on the purpose you need the monitors for.

Type #1: Surgical Grade Medical Monitor

First, there is a surgical-grade medical monitor, which are used for surgeries. Surgical grade medical monitors are unique as they have an antimicrobial coating on the monitor in order to make sure that germs are not spread via the monitor in the OR.

Additionally, the monitor has a waterproof casing and sealed bezels. Surgical grade monitors are also constructed so that they can be disinfected with chemicals that are mandated by the CDC for surgical units as well as chemicals used to clean up medical spills and types of blood.

Additionally, surgical-grade monitors need to be bright so that they can be read at a distance and at odd angles. As such, surgical monitors have an antiglare film on them. Additionally, surgical-grade medical monitors need to be able to support various video modes, such as duel screens, and can have numerous peripherals attached to them.

Type #2: Radiology Diagnostic Grade Medical Monitor

Second, there is a radiology diagnostic grade medical monitor. This type of monitor doesn't need to meet the same stringent waterproof and sanitary requirements as a surgical monitor. Instead, a radiologist monitor needs to have extremely high color reproduction.

A radiology monitor must be able to produce true grays and blacks and have image uniformity. As radiologists use images to make medical calls, the images need to be as crisp and true as possible.

Type #3: Clinical Medical Touchscreen Monitor

Finally, there are the medical monitors that are used within a medical clinic. These machines are made to be multipurpose. They are used for regular office tasks such as billing and appointment setting. They are also used to view medical images. Many clinical monitors are also a touchscreen, which increases the effectiveness of the monitor.

When it comes to medical monitors, it is important to understand what type of medical monitor you are going to need. Surgical grade, radiology, and clinic medical monitors are all highly specialized pieces of equipment, so be sure you know what you need before ordering one. Talk with a diagnostic monitor supplier in order to learn more about the right medical monitor for your practice.
